Azerbaijan confident of trade rebound with Russia by year-end—ambassador
Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia could exceed last year’s figures by the end of 2026, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Russia Rahman Mustafayev said.
Speaking to Russian media on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Mustafayev said bilateral trade reached approximately $4.9–5 billion by the end of 2025, reflecting positive growth dynamics, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“By the end of 2025, we have growth in trade turnover of about $4.9–5 billion. This is a positive trend. However, in the first five months of this year, our trade turnover has fallen by about 30%,” the diplomat noted.
He suggested that the decline may be linked to seasonal fluctuations and requires further analysis.
“I am confident that in the coming months, by the end of the year, we will catch up with the 2025 figures and may even surpass them,” the ambassador stated.
