Azerbaijan continues road construction for Zangazur corridor PHOTO/VIDEO
Construction of the Goradiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway (Zangazur corridor), the foundation of which was laid by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey, continues rapidly.
Anar Najafli, head of the press service of the State Roads Agency of Azerbaijan, told Caliber.Az that the road was designed and built in accordance with the first technical category.
It begins in the village of Ahmadbayli in Fuzuli district. The first 77 km of the highway will be six-lane and the remaining 46.6 km will be four-lane. The width of the roadway will be 29.5 and 21.5 m respectively.
Construction of 15 road bridges, 5 overpasses and 54 underpasses is envisaged on the 123.6-km Goradiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway.
Construction of 14 bridges, 3 overpasses and 38 underpasses is underway.
Three tunnels with a total length of 6 kilometers are under construction. One tunnel with the length of 1019 meters has already been dug, the concrete work in it is being carried out. In the second tunnel, 1,810 meters long, 450 meters have been dug, and in the third tunnel, 3,171 meters long, 500 meters have been dug.
Earthworks for the widening and profiling of the road and the construction of the new roadbed are currently underway on the 110-km section of the first motorway, and the asphalt concrete pavement is being laid in parallel.
Construction work is scheduled to be completed in 2024.
The Goradiz-Jabrayil-Zangilan-Aghband highway, being part of the Hajigabul-Goradiz-Aghband-Zangazur highway, is of great importance from the point of view of connecting Zangilan with other regions of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
