Azerbaijan, Czechia, Nepal, Libya forge stronger anti-corruption ties

Azerbaijani, Libyan, Nepali and Czech top law enforcement officials held a round of bilateral meetings focused on strengthening international cooperation in the fight against corruption.

Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev met with Czech General Inspectorate of the Security Forces (GIBS) Director Vit Hendrych, Nepal’s Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Hon. Commissioner Hari Paudel, Libya’s Administrative Control Authority’s Chairman Abdullah Qader Bouh on the sidelines of the sixth plenary meeting of the GlobE Network in Baku on May 20, Caliber.Az reports.

The meetings centred on enhancing collaboration in anti-corruption efforts and exchanging experience in building transparent, accountable legal institutions.

During the talks, Aliyev presented Azerbaijan’s recent institutional reforms aimed at combating corruption, highlighting innovative management approaches adopted under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership. He emphasised the importance of international cooperation through platforms like the GlobE Network and expressed Azerbaijan’s commitment to deeper engagement.

The Azerbaijani official specifically highlighted the institutional activity of prosecution bodies, especially in the field of fighting corruption, applied innovative management mechanisms, as well as international partnership initiatives.

In turn, the guests highly appreciated the anti-corruption measures in Azerbaijan, especially the consistency of legal reforms of the Prosecutor's Office. Officials discussed prospects for practical cooperation, including information sharing, developing direct links between law enforcement agencies, as well as opportunities for deepening future co-operation.

Discussions were held on the implementation of joint initiatives at the regional and international levels, including joint participation in global anti-corruption efforts.

The delegations of the Czech Republic, Nepal and Libya expressed their interest in learning from the experience of the Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan in achieving the principles of transparency, ethical behaviour and accountability.
