Azerbaijan, D-8 focus on expanding multi-sector partnership

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Sohail Mahmood, Secretary General of the Developing-8 Organisation of Economic Cooperation (D-8), to discuss the development of cooperation across multiple sectors.

The sides reviewed prospects for collaboration between Azerbaijan and the D-8 in political, economic, trade, energy, investment, as well as transport and logistics fields on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF-2026), according to a statement posted by the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on X.

Azerbaijan’s active participation in the organization since joining was highly appreciated.

In this context, the discussion highlighted the D-8 Week held in Azerbaijan, ongoing efforts to establish Centers of Excellence in media and transport, as well as the organisation’s Energy and Climate Center.

Regional and global security issues were also addressed, with particular focus on de-escalation in the Middle East, adherence to international humanitarian law, and the protection of civilians.
