Azerbaijan detains over 40 border transgressors in April
Azerbaijan’s State Border Service detained 41 persons for violation of the state border in April 2023.
Some 22 persons out of those detained are citizens of Azerbaijan, 10 citizens of Nepal, one Iranian citizen, one Pakistani citizen, two Tajik citizens and five citizens of Sri Lanka, Caliber.Az informs, citing the Service.
As part of the fight against illegal migration, 20 persons were apprehended while trying to cross the state border with falsified passports, visas and date stamps. As many as 691 persons were apprehended for violation of border regulations and appropriate measures were taken against them, according to the Service.
In addition, within the anti-crime measures, 260 wanted persons were detained and handed over to the relevant authorities, the departure of 446 persons banned from leaving the country was prevented, and the entry of 20 persons banned from entering Azerbaijan was prevented.
Thanks to the measures taken against illicit drug trafficking, 971.317 kg of various types of narcotic drugs and 25,585 psychotropic pills were seized from illicit traffic.
Moreover, the Azerbaijani border guards found and seized tobacco, gold jewellery, camera drones, bullets, and other items totalling over 28.5 million manats in smuggling as part of the anti-smuggling efforts.
The Azerbaijani State Border Service officers continue measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border, to combat smuggling, illegal migration and drug trafficking.
