Azerbaijan's State Border Service officers detained 67 border violators in August.
Forty-five detainees were Azerbaijanis, one from Sri Lanka, one from Türkiye, one from Bangladesh, seven from India, five from Iran, five from Pakistan, and two from Uzbekistan, Caliber.Az reports citing the state service.
In addition, 35 people were also detained who tried to cross the border with fake passports.
A total of 729 people [since early 2022] were detained for violating the rules of the border regime, and appropriate measures were taken against them.
Over 156 kg of narcotic drugs and 800 psychotropic pills were taken out from circulation as a result of measures to combat illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs.
Thanks to the anti-smuggling activities, goods worth about 3,405,367 manats (slightly over $2 million), including tobacco products, jewellery and alcoholic beverages, were also banned from importing into the country.
