24 September 2022 14:45
The Azerbaijani State Border Service servicemen found a section in the direction of the border area in the Zangilan district where Armenian saboteurs had planted mines.
Sources in the law enforcement agencies told Caliber.Az that the Armenian side mainly used MON-50 anti-personnel fragmentation mines. The mines discovered by Azerbaijani border guards should have been activated from an electric detonator in a controlled version.
Antipersonnel mines are prohibited under the 1997 United Nations Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production, and Transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines and on their Destruction (Convention on Landmines). More than 150 countries have acceded to this treaty.
