Azerbaijan, US discuss Washington's role in regional peace
Azerbaijan and the US have discussed Washington's contribution to promoting peace and cooperation in the region as part of a meeting between Gaya Mammadov, head of Azerbaijan's delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and Congressman Joe Wilson, who heads the US delegation.
At a meeting on the sidelines of the Assembly's session in The Hague, Mammadov congratulated Wilson on his election as chair of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's General Committee on Political Affairs and Security, wishing him success in his new role, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
During the talks, the two sides welcomed the strong personal relations and high-level dialogue between the leaders of Azerbaijan and the United States, describing them as being founded on mutual trust and respect.
They also highlighted Washington's contribution to promoting peace and cooperation in the region, as well as efforts to strengthen bilateral ties.
The discussions also covered preparations for the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Annual Session, which is scheduled to take place in the United States in 2027, along with other issues of mutual interest.
