Azerbaijan embassy honours memory of martyrs, fallen Kazakh servicemen PHOTO

An event marking the sixth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Remembrance Day was held at the country’s embassy in Astana.

Diplomats, members of the public and representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora attended the event, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alimirzamin Askerov said the Azerbaijani Armed Forces launched a counter-offensive operation on September 27, 2020 in response to what he described as another military provocation by Armenia.

He said Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity was restored through the courage of its armed forces and the determination of Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev.

Askerov also highlighted Türkiye’s political and moral support for Azerbaijan during the 44-day Patriotic War, saying the unity between Baku and Ankara had become an important factor in regional stability and security.

Türkiye’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Mustafa Kapucu also attended the event and congratulated Azerbaijan’s army, state and people on the liberation of the territories.

“We extend our condolences over the losses of our Azerbaijani brothers. We hope that the brotherly countries will never again have to experience such days,” he said.

Participants observed a minute’s silence in memory of Azerbaijan’s martyrs, whose sacrifice, they said, would remain in the memory of the Azerbaijani people.

They also expressed condolences over the deaths of 24 Kazakh servicemen during military exercises in the Caspian Sea on September 24 and observed a minute’s silence in their memory.

Participants said they shared the grief of the people of Kazakhstan.
