Azerbaijan emerges as strategic partner for Moldova in transport, energy—envoy
Moldova and Azerbaijan are strengthening their ties across multiple sectors, from energy and transport to agriculture and culture. Moldovan Ambassador Alexander Esaulenko highlighted the strategic importance of Azerbaijan in regional trade routes and the growing collaboration in agriculture and cultural exchange initiatives.
Cooperation between Moldova and Azerbaijan has been advancing dynamically and effectively, reflecting a consistently positive trajectory in recent years. Energy and transport-logistics collaboration are emerging as top priorities, with Azerbaijan playing an increasingly pivotal role in the Middle Corridor and the North–South route. This makes the deepening of transport cooperation strategically significant for both nations, Esaulenko said, Caliber.Az reports.
The ambassador highlighted significant potential in the agricultural sector as well. Moldova possesses extensive expertise and resources in providing high-quality seeds, and promising joint initiatives could be implemented, including in the Karabakh region, historically renowned as a centre for agriculture and winemaking.
Esaulenko also emphasized the humanitarian and cultural dimension of bilateral cooperation. “Moldovan musicians have been participating in the International Jazz Festival in Baku for several years, showcasing new jazz ensembles,” he noted.
He further explained that, with support from the Azerbaijani diaspora in Moldova, projects are underway to translate the works of Romanian poets into Azerbaijani, with a substantial number of publications already completed.
“This initiative allows Azerbaijani readers to gain a deeper understanding of the poetry and culture of the Romanian cultural space, to which the Republic of Moldova belongs,” Esaulenko added.
