Azerbaijan, EU reaffirm commitment to justice at Global Anti-Corruption Summit
Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev and Deputy European Chief Prosecutor Petr Klement have discussed enhancing legal cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU by reaffirming their commitment to the rule of law and international justice during the sixth plenary session of the UN’s Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) in Baku.
Aliyev highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration between EU institutions and Azerbaijan’s legal system, particularly in advancing transparency, legal reform, and judicial cooperation, Caliber.Az reports.
He also stressed the need for a more robust and institutionalized communication channel between the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office. Klement commended the legal reforms underway in Azerbaijan, describing them as consistent with international standards and expressing the EU’s continued support for the country's efforts to modernise its justice system. He praised Azerbaijan’s progress and welcomed the country's commitment to fighting corruption through legal and institutional strengthening.
The meeting also touched on global anti-corruption efforts, with a shared interest in expanding cooperation among international law enforcement agencies.
