Over 1,200 citizens from 40 countries evacuated from Iran via Azerbaijan PHOTO/UPDATED

A total of 1,249 foreign citizens have been evacuated from Iran through the Azerbaijani border following military operations launched by the United States and Israel on February 28.

The  evacuees represent citizens from 40 countries, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Another 12 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan from 16:00 to 18:00 local time on March 4. 

Three Azerbaijani citizens, three Pakistani citizens, one citizen of the United Kingdom, one citizen of Kazakhstan, as well as two representatives of the Swedish Embassy and two representatives of the Czech Embassy were evacuated through the Astara border checkpoint, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

Another 46 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan on March 4 between 14:00 and 16:00 local time.

These include six Azerbaijani citizens, 35 Chinese citizens, four people from Tajikistan and one from Ukraine, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

They were brought to Azerbaijan through the Astara state border crossing point.

Another 20 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan through the Astara border crossing from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time on March 4.

In this vein, six of those who crossed into Azerbaijan through the Astara state border checkpoint were Azerbaijani citizens, while the others were nationals of China, Pakistan, Russia, and Cuba, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

With this latest group, the total number of people evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan since the start of military operations on February 28 at 8:00 a.m. has reached 1,202.

Another 21 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan through the Astara border crossing from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. local time on March 4.

Five of those who crossed into Azerbaijan through the Astara state border checkpoint were Azerbaijani citizens, while the others were nationals of China, Pakistan, France, and Tajikistan, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

With this latest group, the total number of people evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan since the start of military operations on February 28 at 8:00 a.m. has reached 1,182.
