Azerbaijan evacuates more foreigners from Iran amid Mideast strike exchange PHOTO

Through the Astara border checkpoint, crossings of Azerbaijani and foreign citizens have continued since the morning of March 2.

According to Azertag, so far, one French citizen, seven Tajik citizens, and five Azerbaijani citizens have passed through the checkpoint. They completed the necessary registration and document verification procedures and entered the country safely and in an orderly manner.

Notably, the crossing process also continued throughout last night, during which 50 Chinese citizens were processed through the checkpoint.

The procedure is carried out under the supervision of the relevant state authorities in accordance with established protocols, and evacuation measures continue in a phased manner.

To recall, on February 28, the U.S. and Israel launched a military operation against Iran, carrying out airstrikes on cities in the republic. In response, Iran fired missiles at Israeli territory and also attacked fourteen U.S. military bases located in Persian Gulf countries. Amidst the tension in the Middle East, several countries in the region temporarily closed their airspace. The strike exchange continues today, March 2.
