Azerbaijan evacuates most embassy staff from Tehran

Azerbaijan has already evacuated the majority of its embassy personnel in Tehran,  Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Aykhan Hajizada told Report News Agency.

He added that the evacuation of staff from Azerbaijan’s Consulate General in Tabriz has been fully completed.

The decision to withdraw all personnel from the embassy in Tehran and the consulate in Tabriz came after Iranian drone strikes on the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, which left four people injured. The move was announced by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov at a press conference on March 6, one day after the incident.
