Azerbaijan extends condolences to Canada after deadly school shooting

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed condolences to Canada following the tragic school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, which claimed 9 lives, in a post shared on its social media.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic school shooting in Tumbler Ridge, Canada.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the Canadian government and people, during this difficult time. 

Our thoughts are also with those injured, and we wish them a swift and full recovery,” Caliber.Az quotes the ministry as saying on X.

A mass shooting occurred on February 10 at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in northeastern British Columbia, where a gunman opened fire, killing 9 people and injuring dozens in one of Canada’s deadliest school attacks in recent history.

Authorities reported that six victims were found dead inside the school, two more at a nearby residence, and another died en route to the hospital, while the suspect — described as a female who died from an apparent self‑inflicted wound — was also found deceased at the scene.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) swiftly evacuated remaining students and staff and have launched an investigation into the shooter’s motives and connections to the victims, though no motive has yet been publicly disclosed.

The town of Tumbler Ridge, with a population of around 2,400, and Canadian leaders have expressed deep shock and grief, highlighting the rarity of such violence in Canada’s tightly knit communities.
