Azerbaijan extradites two offenders to Uzbekistan for prosecution
The offenders arrested at Uzbekistan’s request have been extradited from Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan.
The Azerbaijani General Prosecutor's Office met the requests of the Uzbek General Prosecutor's Office for the extradition of Uzbek citizens Shahboz Shodiev, 35, and Shahboz Satymboev, 27, for prosecution, APA reports citing the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General's Office.
Shodiev was charged in Uzbekistan with fraud, embezzlement and misappropriation, forgery of official documents and deliberate use of forged documents. Satymboev was charged in Uzbekistan with fraud, illegal acquisition of passports or other important personal documents. Both of them were put on the international wanted list. The investigative bodies revealed in 2023 that Shodiev and Satymboev were in Azerbaijan and they were arrested upon the court decision.
According to the Convention “On Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Cases” dated October 7, 2002, decisions were made to extradite the accused individuals and, accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Azerbaijani Justice Ministry, they were handed over to the representatives of the Uzbek competent agencies.
