Azerbaijan extradites two wanted Uzbek nationals
Azerbaijan has extradited two Uzbek nationals who were wanted internationally, the Prosecutor General's Office has said.
According to the office, Rahmatullo Mirzaalimov, born in 1981, and Azamatjon Tokhtasinov, born in 1976, were handed over to Uzbekistan at the request of the country's Prosecutor General's Office to face criminal charges, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Investigators accuse the two men of embezzlement on an especially large scale committed by a group of individuals using their official positions, as well as the use of forged documents.
They had therefore been placed on an international wanted list.
Both suspects were detained in Azerbaijan in April 2026 and transferred to the competent authorities of Uzbekistan in accordance with international obligations.
