Azerbaijan facilitates first Russian grain transit to Armenia following lifting of restrictions
In a historic development, a shipment of Russian grain has transited through Azerbaijan en route to Armenia, following President Ilham Aliyev’s recent announcement lifting all cargo transit restrictions that had been in place since the period of occupation.
At 00:15 on November 4, a convoy consisting of 15 railcars carrying a total of 1,048.8 tons of grain departed from the Russian Federation. The shipment traveled through Azerbaijan and Georgia before reaching the Dalarik station in Armenia, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
President Aliyev made the announcement during his state visit to Kazakhstan on October 21, 2025, affirming that Azerbaijan had removed all transit limitations to Armenia that had persisted since the occupation period.
