Azerbaijan files criminal case on border guard’s injury
Azerbaijan’s Gubadli Military Prosecutor's Office has filed a criminal case on the injury of border guard of the N-military unit of the State Border Service, soldier Parviz Khalilzade as a result of shelling by the Armenian side.
A criminal case was initiated under Article 29,120.2.12 (attempted premeditated murder motivated by national, racial or religious hatred). The representatives of the prosecutor's office questioned witnesses, expertise was arranged, other investigative procedures were carried out, Caliber.Az reports.
The investigation is currently ongoing. All measures will be taken in accordance with the requirements of the law and generally accepted norms and principles of international law.
The Armenian Armed Forces have shelled the Azerbaijani military positions in Zangilan wounding a serviceman.
The Armenian Armed Forces opened fire on the section of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conditional state border running through Zangilan district from Nerkin-And settlement of Gafan district towards the position of border troops of the Azerbaijani State Border Guard Service in Kollugishlag village of Zangilan district on February 12 at about 13:37 (GMT+4), Azertag reports.
As a result of the provocation, serviceman of the State Border Service Parviz Khalilzade was wounded. The serviceman was evacuated by helicopter to a hospital.
The incident, including the moment of opening fire from the opposite side, was recorded by video surveillance cameras.
At present, the situation is stable and is controlled by the Azerbaijani units. The responsibility for the provocation lies entirely with the Armenian military-political leadership.
