Azerbaijan files criminal cases against deportation of compatriots from Armenia

Criminal cases have been initiated in connection with the deportation of people from Western Azerbaijan (current Armenia).

Azerbaijani Deputy Prosecutor-General Elmar Jamalov told public hearings in the Milli Majlis on the topic “Return to Western Azerbaijan: Legal aspects”, organized by the Committee on Legal Policy and State Building, APA news agency reports.

“Among the legal aspects related to the return to Western Azerbaijan, an important role is played by identifying and proving the crimes committed for centuries by Armenia and their patrons against our compatriots living in Western Azerbaijan, bringing the perpetrators to justice in accordance with international standards,” the deputy prosecutor-general underscored.
