07 May 2026 16:50

On May 7, a new round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Finland took place in Baku.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Finnish side was headed by Sari Rautio, Director General of the Euro-Atlantic Department of Finland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Caliber.Az reports, citing the ministry.

During the consultations, the two sides discussed political relations between the countries, emphasising the importance of reciprocal visits and meetings within international events to maintain continuous dialogue.

The talks also covered the current state and prospects of cooperation in economic, humanitarian, and educational fields, as well as strategic energy and transport projects implemented with the participation of Azerbaijan.

Rzayev briefed the Finnish side on the current situation in the region, the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalisation process, large-scale reconstruction efforts, and demining activities in territories reclaimed from occupation. The sides also exchanged views on other regional and international issues of mutual interest.
