Azerbaijan, Gambia discuss bilateral ties ahead of World Urban Forum in Baku
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Gambia’s counterpart Sering Modou Njie held a phone call to discuss bilateral relations and upcoming international events, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported.
During the conversation, the ministers reviewed the current state and prospects of ties between their countries and emphasised the importance of political consultations between their foreign ministries in the near term.
They also highlighted the value of political dialogue, mutual visits, and cooperation within international organisations, exchanging views on Azerbaijan’s forthcoming chairmanship of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and preparations for related events.
Bayramov briefed Njie on the World Urban Forum, which Azerbaijan will host later this year. The ministers additionally exchanged opinions on regional and international security issues and other matters of mutual interest.
WUF13 will take place in the Azerbaijani capital on May 17-22, 2026. The forum is being organised in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Government of Azerbaijan, and will bring together representatives from national and local governments, the private sector, civil society, youth networks, academic institutions, and international organisations worldwide.
