Azerbaijan, Georgia expand defence cooperation during talks in Tbilisi PHOTO
Azerbaijan’s Defence Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov met with Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani during an official visit to Tbilisi, as both sides reaffirmed growing military and strategic cooperation.
The visit began with an official welcoming ceremony, during which a guard of honour was inspected and the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Georgia were played, Caliber.Az reports via the Defence Ministry.
Colonel General Hasanov highlighted the steady expansion of defence ties between the two countries, noting that military cooperation reflects the broader strengthening of bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Georgia Faig Guliyev, the two sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the military, military-technical and military education fields, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
Both delegations emphasized continued dialogue on regional security and institutional collaboration between their armed forces.
As part of the visit, the Azerbaijani delegation paid tribute at the Heroes Memorial in Tbilisi and visited the monument to Azerbaijan’s National Leader in the Heydar Aliyev Culture and Recreation Park, where wreaths were laid in honour of the victims and shared historical ties.
