Azerbaijan, Georgia unite against Western pressure forum chairman says

24 October 2024 21:35

Chairman of Board at the Azerbaijan National Non-Governmental Organisations Forum Ramil Iskandarli has said that Western pressure will not hinder the activities of organisations in Georgia that adhere to principles of statehood and sovereignty.

He highlighted that the theme of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia was a central focus at the conference titled "Information Exchange on Public Participation of NGOs from Georgia and Azerbaijan" held in Tbilisi on October 21 at the initiative of the National Forum, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

"Azerbaijan and Georgia, as geopolitical allies, along with experts from both nations, must unite their efforts to counter Western pressure. Statements about Georgia regularly appear in Western media and political institutions, and this pressure is expected to intensify in the lead-up to the elections,” he noted.

“As representatives of Azerbaijani NGOs, we are closely monitoring the current situation in Georgia. We actively collaborate with Georgian NGOs dedicated to protecting the national and spiritual values and independence of Georgia, based on the principles of statehood and sovereignty. Our joint event serves as a testament to this commitment," Iskandarli stated.

Azerbaijan has recently seen significant economic growth, leveraging its favourable geographical position and integrating into the international community, which has positively impacted its relationships with neighbouring countries.

Azerbaijan's ties with Georgia hold particular importance. Georgia serves as a crucial transit route for Azerbaijani energy supplies to European markets and facilitates the transportation of goods from East to West.   The relationship between Azerbaijan and Georgia is grounded not only in economic factors but also in deep historical roots. The friendship between the two nations dates back centuries, establishing them as not just neighbours and allies but also vital strategic partners.
