Azerbaijan guarantees accessible voting in liberated areas for snap elections
Chairman of the Azerbaijani Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov has assured that comprehensive measures will be in place to facilitate comfortable voting in the snap parliamentary elections in the territories liberated from occupation.
Speaking at a CEC meeting, Panahov emphasised the importance of accessible polling stations in these areas, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
"The polling stations in the liberated territories must not be too far from each other. Some 34 polling stations in these territories have been prepared for the elections. Moreover, we are also creating temporary polling stations," he stated.
The announcement follows a decree by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, which dissolved the sixth convocation of parliament and called for snap parliamentary elections on June 28. The elections are scheduled for September 1.
