Citizens from multiple countries evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan PHOTO / UPDATED

Today, between 09:00 and 20:00, a total of 45 people were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan via the Astara border crossing.

According to Report, the evacuees included:

• 6 Azerbaijani citizens

• 8 Russian citizens

• 12 Chinese citizens

• 3 Kazakh citizens

• Diplomats: 2 from Slovenia, 2 from Romania, 1 from Switzerland, 2 from Belgium, and 9 from Hungary

All were safely evacuated to Azerbaijan. The operation was conducted following necessary security measures and registration procedures.

On March 8, 2026, diplomatic staff from five countries were evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan via the Astara border crossing.

According to Report, since 17:00 local time, the following diplomats were evacuated:

• 2 from Slovenia

• 8 from Hungary

• 2 from Romania

• 3 from Belgium

• 1 from Switzerland

In addition, seven citizens of China were also evacuated to Azerbaijan.

The evacuation of foreign citizens from Iran to Azerbaijan via the Astara border checkpoint continues, with six Chinese citizens having safely entered the country. 

Besides, between 13:30 and 17:00, five more Azerbaijani citizens, alongside those Chinese, were evacuated, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Earlier, three staff members of the Kazakh diplomatic mission in Iran and eight Russian citizens were also evacuated.

Members of Kazakhstan’s diplomatic corps in Iran have been evacuated to Azerbaijan.

Three Kazakh diplomats, along with eight Russian citizens, crossed into Azerbaijan through the Astara state border checkpoint, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Earlier, 19 staff members from the diplomatic missions of Germany and Spain were also evacuated through Azerbaijan.
