Azerbaijan holds first meeting of COP29 organizing committee
On January 22, the first meeting of the Organizing Committee was held in connection with the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), the 19th session of the meeting of the parties to the Kyoto Protocol and the 6th session of the meeting of the parties to the Paris Agreement.
According to Report, the head of the Azerbaijani presidential administration, and chairman of the organizing committee, Samir Nuriyev, noted that one of the national priorities of the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan until 2030 is defined as the “country of a clean environment and green growth”.
The country has undertaken to reduce by 2030, the amount of greenhouse gases by 35% compared to the base year 1990, and also that the liberated Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic have been declared a “green energy” zone.
