Azerbaijan hosts sixth meeting of COP29 Organising Committee PHOTO
The sixth meeting of the Organising Committee of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) was held.
The meeting featured speeches from several key figures, including Samir Nuriyev, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chair of the Organising Committee; Mukhtar Babayev, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources and President-Designate of COP29; Arif Samadov, Chief of the Protocol Service of the President of Azerbaijan; Vilayat Eyvazov, Interior Minister; Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport; Nigar Arpadarai, UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan; Elchin Guliyev, Chief of the Azerbaijani State Border Service; and Narmin Jarchalova, Chief Operating Officer for COP29 Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.
Baku will host the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
A group of Eastern European countries has chosen Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to host COP29 climate talks next year.
Earlier, Bulgaria withdrew its candidacy to host the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change in favour of Azerbaijan.
Moreover, Baku and Yerevan agreed to support each other at some international venues. In a joint statement, Armenia said it would support Azerbaijan's bid to host the COP29 summit.
The conference is being held in rotation by five UN regional groups, and Eastern Europe will take part next year.
