Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Council of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) President Salvatore Sciacchitano have discussed work done in the development of civil aviation and aviation security in Azerbaijan.
At the meeting held on June 7, the sides stressed that the ICAO highly appreciates the compliance of aviation security standards in Azerbaijan with the organization’s standards, Report informs, citing the Cabinet of Ministers.
Noting that the airports put into operation in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories are included in the ICAO catalogue, the prime minister stressed the importance of building international airports in these regions from the point of view of tourism development.
Earlier, it was also reported that ICAO’s European/North Atlantic Bureau Director Nicholas Rallo arrived in Baku with an official visit on June 6.
The ICAO is a specialised agency of the United Nations. It changes the principles and techniques of international air navigation and fosters the planning and development of international air transport to ensure safe and orderly growth.
ICAO develops policies and standards, undertakes compliance audits, performs studies and analyses, provides assistance and builds aviation capacity through many other activities and the cooperation of its Member States and stakeholders.
