Azerbaijan introduces e-work permits for foreign nationals, stateless individuals
The Azerbaijani State Migration Service has said that on November 8, 2024, Azerbaijani President signed legislative amendments to the Migration Code, allowing for the issuance of work permits to foreign nationals and stateless people in e-form.
According to the new legal amendment, work permits for foreign nationals and stateless individuals to engage in paid employment within the country will be issued electronically, the State Migration Service told Caliber.Az.
These permits will be authenticated with an enhanced, certified e-signature from an authorized official of the State Migration Service.
Work permits issued (or extended) before the law came into effect will remain valid until the expiration date indicated on them. In cases of loss, destruction, or changes to the personal identification documents of foreign nationals or stateless people, or if there is a change in the name of the legal entity they work for, employers will be able to obtain the work permit in e-form without paying any state fees.
Employers who wish to obtain work permits for foreign nationals or stateless people they intend to hire can apply to the State Migration Service via the "Migration Services" window at the "ASAN Service" centres or through the "Electronic Services" section on the official website of the Service.
From January 31, the State Migration Service will only issue work permits electronically to employers applying for them, regardless of the application format.
For additional information, employers can contact the State Migration Service call centre at (012) 919, visit its official social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram), or reach out to the PR Department by email at pr@migration.gov.az.
