Azerbaijan invites UAE to join reconstruction of Karabakh, East Zangezur PHOTO
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, as part of his official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), met on October 30 with his counterpart from this country, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During the meeting, the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and the UAE, as well as the current situation in the region, was discussed, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry's statement.
The diplomats hailed the development of the existing agenda of cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, trade, energy, investment, humanitarian, educational, cultural, and other spheres as satisfactory. The importance of using the mechanism of political consultations was emphasized in terms of discussing the prospects for further development of relations, as well as expanding the existing legal framework.
Attention was focused on the existing partnership between Azerbaijan and the UAE, based on mutual support and solidarity, within the framework of multilateral platforms, in particular the United Nations (UN), the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Non-Aligned Movement (OIC) and others. Bayramov expressed his gratitude for the UAE's continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the mutually beneficial activities of the two countries in the field of energy security, especially in the area of renewable energy production, including the opening ceremony of the Garadagh solar power plant on October 26 of this year, were mentioned as a successful start for projects implemented in this direction with the Masdar company from the UAE.
Bayramov informed his counterpart in detail about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period, about the restoration and reconstruction work carried out in the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation, and about activities to normalise and promote the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The UAE was invited to take advantage of potential investment opportunities in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions as part of the reconstruction campaign.
Having informed the other side in detail about the peaceful and reintegration processes in the region, Minister Bayramov noted that as a result of the anti-terrorism measures carried out by the Azerbaijan Armed Forces, obstacles to peace negotiations were eliminated, as well as opportunities were created for the reintegration of the Armenian population living in the Karabakh region and for peacebuilding process.
Bayramov said Azerbaijan, as always, is determined to advance the peace agenda in these favourable conditions created to establish sustainable peace in the region.
Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, noting that mutual visits between the two countries play an exceptional role in the development of cooperation, added that such contacts contribute to the discussion of prospects for the development of relations.
He emphasized that the UAE is interested in further expanding the agenda of bilateral, including multilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
