Azerbaijan, IPU to enhance parliamentary ties, climate initiatives PHOTO
As part of her visit to Geneva, Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, has met with Martin Chungong, the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), to discuss enhancing collaboration between the country's Parliament and the IPU.
Highlighting the importance of bilateral and multilateral relations, Gafarova expressed Azerbaijan's commitment to expanding ties with international parliamentary structures, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Chungong commended Azerbaijan's active role within the IPU, emphasizing the value of its participation in global parliamentary activities.
Gafarova reflected on prior meetings with the IPU leadership, underscoring that ongoing dialogue serves as a testament to both parties' dedication to fostering stronger relations.
The discussion also encompassed preparations for an upcoming Parliamentary Conference set to take place in Baku this November, coinciding with COP29. This event is expected to provide a platform for parliamentarians to exchange ideas and propose innovative solutions to combat climate change, further solidifying Azerbaijan's role in international environmental discussions.
