Azerbaijan, Iraq top diplomats discuss Middle East tensions in phone call
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, held a phone conversation on 1 March with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, to discuss the escalating security situation in the Middle East.
During the call, the ministers exchanged views on recent military escalations and rising regional tensions. They emphasised the importance of restraint by all parties, cautioning against actions that could further aggravate the situation and stressing that diplomatic channels should remain the primary means of resolving disputes, Caliber.Az reports via the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
Both ministers highlighted the role of coordinated international efforts in stabilising the region and stressed that the protection of civilians and critical infrastructure must remain a top priority.
In addition, the conversation included discussion of other matters of mutual interest.
