Azerbaijan, ISESCO discuss prospects of cooperation
Azerbaijani Culture Minister Adil Karimli and Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO) Director General Salim bin Mohammed Almalik discussed cooperation in various spheres.
During the meeting, held within the framework of the Azerbaijani minister’s visit to Rabat in the Kingdom of Morocco, Karimli also met with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Morocco and Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to ISESCO Nazim Samado, Report informs.
The sides also discussed the opening of the ISESCO Regional Office in Baku, the announcement of Shusha city as the "Cultural Capital of the Islamic World" in 2024, the deepening of cooperation within the Baku Process, in which ISESCO is a partner, inclusion of Azerbaijani cultural samples in the Islamic World Heritage List, etc.
Thanking the Azerbaijani side for the fruitful cooperation, the ISESCO director general expressed gratitude for the services rendered by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, who has provided great and invaluable support to the successful collaboration between the organisation and Azerbaijan.
He then stressed this cooperation could be a successful model for many countries, informing of the main strategic directions, initiatives, programs and projects currently being implemented by the organisation for the future. He noted that the development of innovation, educational systems, as well as strengthening the values of coexistence and civil dialogue are among ISESCO’s priorities.
In turn, Karimli said ISESCO is a strategic partner to Azerbaijan in the field of education, science and culture, and relations between the two countries have been strongly supported by President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady, ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva.
Noting that ISESCO was the leading partner of the Intercultural Dialogue Forum, the minister stressed the importance of continuing the cooperation within the forum scheduled for next May.
After the meeting, Salim Almalik briefed the delegation led by the culture minister on the "Way of the Prophet" museum recently established at ISESCO`s headquarters.
