The Azerbaijani State Security Service has announced the conclusion of a high-level CIS security chiefs’ meeting, where participants emphasised the urgent need for continued joint efforts to combat terrorism, transnational organised crime, cybercrime, religious extremism, radicalism, and drug trafficking across the region.

On May 16, Chief of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Ali Naghiyev took part in the 56th session of the Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services of CIS member states in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, Caliber.Az reports, citing the State Security Service.

Before the official start of the session, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the heads of the participating delegations, marking the formal opening of the event. Delegates emphasised the importance of timely intelligence sharing among member states' security services to effectively neutralise emerging external threats.

Participants also stressed that in order to align the operations of CIS security bodies with current global and regional challenges, it is essential to mobilise all available resources and efficiently deploy institutional capabilities to counteract threats that undermine security. The meeting featured a broad exchange of views on future cooperation strategies, long-term priorities, and upcoming tasks for the intelligence and security services of the CIS member states, highlighting the importance of unity in facing shared security concerns.
