Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan eye media cooperation at Shusha forum PHOTO
Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration, met with senior Kazakh officials on the sidelines of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum to discuss bilateral cooperation in media and information.
The meeting was attended by Kanat Iskakov, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, and Nurlan Bertysov, Chief Expert at the Information Committee of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Culture and Information, Azertag reports.
According to Azerbaijani officials, the sides described relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan as being of an allied nature and discussed expanding cooperation within the Organisation of Turkic States, with a particular focus on information and media.
Hajiyev highlighted the importance of closer coordination among member states of the Organisation of Turkic States on social media issues, the production of joint media content and efforts to combat disinformation. The discussions also covered the broadcasting of Azerbaijani television channels in Kazakhstan and Kazakh television channels in Azerbaijan.
The Kazakh delegation congratulated Azerbaijan on hosting the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum and praised its organisation. They also commended Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's meeting with media representatives during the forum, noting what they described as his detailed and candid responses to journalists' questions.
