Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan launch joint Business Council to boost economic ties PHOTO
Baku and Bishkek have taken a significant step toward strengthening bilateral economic cooperation with the signing of a memorandum establishing the Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani Business Council as the Executive Director of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of Azerbaijan (AZPROMO), Yusif Abdullayev, has met with Avazbek Kerimbayev, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan, to discuss new avenues for strengthening bilateral economic ties.
The sides reviewed the current state of and future prospects for economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, Caliber.Az reports, citing AZPROMO.
Discussions focused in particular on expanding import–export operations and identifying new opportunities for cooperation between AZPROMO, the Trade Representation of Central Asian countries, and the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Both parties underscored the importance of attracting mutual investments, increasing bilateral trade turnover, and regularly organizing business missions to deepen commercial engagement.
It was noted that a meeting between the Trade Representation and the Chamber is scheduled for December in Bishkek to outline new projects and further enhance cooperation between the business communities of both countries.
During the talks, the parties also highlighted progress on a hotel project on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul, being developed with Azerbaijani involvement. The project is nearing completion, with commissioning planned for May 2026. In connection with the hotel’s opening, the possibility of holding a Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani business forum was considered.
At the conclusion of the meeting, AZPROMO and the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum on the establishment of a Kyrgyz-Azerbaijani Business Council, marking a new stage in institutional cooperation between the two nations.
