Azerbaijan, Latvia deepen ties with focus on border safety
In a bid to enhance border security and cooperation, a Latvian delegation, led by General Guntis Pujats, Head of the State Border Guard of Latvia, visited Azerbaijan on April 8, 2025.
The visit was at the invitation of Colonel General Elchin Guliyev, Head of Azerbaijan's State Border Service, Caliber.Az reports.
During the meeting between the Azerbaijani and Latvian delegations, both sides highlighted the successful progress in their bilateral relations, particularly in the area of border security. It was emphasized that the exchange of visits between the heads of the border agencies of both countries in 2023 and 2024 had played a crucial role in strengthening joint efforts.
The Latvian delegation was briefed on Azerbaijan's ongoing efforts to secure its state borders, including in the territories liberated from occupation, where new border infrastructure is being built with cutting-edge technologies.
Both nations expressed their commitment to deepening cooperation and sharing expertise in border security, combating smuggling, illegal migration, and the trafficking of narcotics, aiming for a more secure and collaborative future.
