Azerbaijan, Latvia strengthen parliamentary ties, mull regional cooperation PHOTO
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova has met with a delegation led by Latvian Saeima Speaker Daiga Mierina, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The meeting underscored the significance of mutual visits, regular meetings between parliamentary speakers and working groups, and the need to deepen connections between the relevant committees and commissions of both countries' parliaments, Report informs.
Mierina praised Azerbaijan's role in establishing lasting peace in the region and acknowledged the extensive reconstruction efforts undertaken by Azerbaijan. She expressed that Latvian companies could potentially participate in the restoration and reconstruction projects in Karabakh in the future.
The discussions also covered Azerbaijan's hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and other issues of mutual interest.
