Azerbaijan launches large-scale military exercises involving Ground Forces PHOTO / VIDEO

Large-scale operational exercises involving units of Azerbaijan’s Ground Forces have begun in the country in accordance with the 2026 training plan.

The drills involve personnel from commando units, motorised rifle and mechanised brigades, artillery units, supply units, as well as military reservists, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During the initial phase of the exercises, the troops were placed on combat alert, with personnel deployed to operational and combat areas as well as designated defensive positions. Live-fire exercises were also conducted as part of the operational drills.

The tactical activities were carried out taking into account the experience of the Patriotic War and armed conflicts that have taken place around the world in recent years. The exercises involved the integrated use of modern unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare and signals intelligence systems, as well as precision weapons systems in service with the Azerbaijani Army.

During aerial and technical reconnaissance missions and practical live-fire exercises, military personnel demonstrated a high level of professionalism.

The drills also tested new methods and approaches to combat operations, improved commanders’ ability to make independent decisions, and enhanced troops’ capabilities to conduct operations in mountainous and forested terrain, as well as their overall field training.

Senior officials from Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, who monitored the course of the exercises, positively assessed the performance of the units and formations. It was noted that all assigned tasks were fully completed and all objectives of the exercises were successfully achieved.
