Azerbaijan-made ASELSAN aerial bomb successfully hits mock-up target

09 October 2024 10:33

Aviation bomb QFAB-250 LG, developed by Azerbaijan and equipped with a laser guidance kit (LGK) designed by Türkiye, has successfully hit a simulated target with high precision.

The 250-kilogram laser-guided HE fragmentation aerial bomb was created in a joint project prepared by the Scientific Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense Industry and the Turkish company ASELSAN, Caliber.Az reports via ASELSAN’s X page.

"Technology collaboration: the QFAB-250 LG bomb, developed by Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defence Industry, accurately hit the target with the help of ASELSAN's laser guidance kit," the statement read.

It is worth noting that ASELSAN is a leading corporation in Türkiye's defence industry, focusing on the research, development, and production of advanced military products for air, land, and naval forces. The company is one of the primary contractors for Turkish Armed Forces.

Notably, the QFAB-250 LG bomb measures 3,300 millimetres in length, has a diameter of 240 millimetres, and weighs 270 kilograms. It is capable of striking targets with a margin of error of 10 metres from a distance of 12,000 metres.

Guidance and targeting can be achieved via the Bayraktar TB2 unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV).

The QFAB-250 LG has been developed to NATO standards, tailored for domestic use and intended for export.
