Azerbaijan, Morocco highlight strengthening parliamentary cooperation At OIC meeting
Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament, Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova has met with Mohamed Ghayate, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco, during his visit to Baku for the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations, noting that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Morocco continues to develop on the basis of mutual respect, particularly in the political sphere, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Both parties emphasised close coordination within international organisations and highlighted mutual support on various global platforms.
During the meeting, Speaker Gafarova underlined the importance of interparliamentary relations in strengthening bilateral ties. She recalled her previous visits to Morocco and engagements with Moroccan counterparts at international events, describing such contacts as important for advancing cooperation.
The sides also highlighted the role of parliamentary friendship groups in facilitating dialogue between the two legislatures. They welcomed a Memorandum of Understanding signed this year between the two parliaments, saying it provides a framework for deeper cooperation.
They further noted ongoing collaboration within international parliamentary structures, including the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, where Morocco maintains active participation.
