Azerbaijan, Morocco set stage for enhanced economic, investment ties
Azerbaijani Ambassador Nazim Samadov met with Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah Alaoui, to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral cooperation.
The meeting focused on the current state of and future prospects for collaboration between the two countries in the economic and financial sectors, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The officials also exchanged views on expanding ties in trade, economic development, and tourism, exploring mutual investment opportunities, and enhancing cooperation on international and regional economic platforms.
Both sides emphasized that further development of cooperation relies on strengthening the legal and contractual framework. Discussions touched upon the implementation of the 2018 Convention on the Elimination of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion on Income Taxes, as well as the signing of a draft Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.
The officials highlighted the importance of reciprocal visits and joint projects in reinforcing bilateral relations. Ambassador Samadov invited Minister Alaoui to Azerbaijan for the Annual Meetings of the Islamic Development Bank Group in Baku in June 2026, noting that the visit could include bilateral talks and the signing of agreements. Minister Alaoui accepted the invitation.
