Azerbaijan most affected by mine terror - Ombudswoman
Azerbaijan has always respected and complied with all international legal norms and principles, Ombudswoman Sabina Aliyeva has said.
“I regret that we do not see such respect towards Azerbaijan,” Aliyeva told journalists at a workshop in Nakhchivan, APA reports.
She emphasised that Azerbaijan is one of the countries most affected by mine terrorism.
Aliyeva noted that despite appeals to all organisations over 30 years, no information has been received about almost 4,000 Azerbaijanis captured and taken hostage by Armenia yet.
“Most of them are women and children. During restoration and construction work, mass graves were revealed on our lands liberated from occupation. There are signs of torture on the bodies. To date, we have compiled 18 reports that comply with international standards and submitted them to international institutions and courts. The reports on mine terror and missing people can be cited as an example. We think that by organising conferences and workshops, we are able to better convey our fair position,” the ombudswoman added.
