Azerbaijani PM, Georgian president discuss expansaion of cooperation
On April 15, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov met with President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili, who is on an official visit to the country.
During the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive development of friendly relations and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia, Caliber.Az reports.
Asadov and Kavelashvili discussed issues related to the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Let’s note that Kavelashvili has chosen Azerbaijan for his first official foreign visit since his election as president, underscoring the strategic partnership and close ties between the two neighboring countries.
On April 15, President Kavelashvili arrived in Baku on an official visit. At the airport, he was welcomed by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, and other officials.
On December 14, 2024, Kavelashvili, a former footballer and member of the ruling Georgian Dream party, was elected president by a 300-member electoral college. He received 224 out of 225 valid votes, with one ballot invalidated. Notably, he was the sole candidate, nominated by Bidzina Ivanishvili, the party's founder and influential figure.
