Georgian president visits Azerbaijani parliament during official trip PHOTO
A delegation headed by Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, currently on an official visit to Azerbaijan, paid a visit to the Azerbaijani parliament.
The visit commenced with President Kavelashvili touring the plenary session hall of the Azerbaijani parliament, where he was informed about the legislative procedures and institutional setup of the Azerbaijani parliament, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He then visited the Heydar Aliyev Memorial Hall within the parliament building, where he viewed exhibits dedicated to the Azerbaijani national leader. As part of the tribute, the Georgian president left a written message in the Book of Remembrance, commemorating the legacy of Heydar Aliyev. Following the tour, an extended meeting was held between the Georgian delegation and Azerbaijani parliamentary officials.
President Kavelashvili met with Speaker of the Azerbaijani parliament Sahiba Gafarova to discuss enhancing the partnership between the countries.
Kavelashvili shared the news on Facebook.
“We discussed the historically strong friendship between our countries, as well as the main directions of the strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan. During the meeting, we emphasised the fruitful cooperation between our parliaments and discussed prospects for further deepening this partnership,” he wrote.
