Georgian President Kavelashvili lays wreath at Eternal Flame Memorial in Baku Photo
The President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, honoured the memory of Azerbaijan’s national heroes during his official visit to Baku.
On April 16, President Kavelashvili laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame Memorial in Baku’s Alley of Martyrs, commemorating those who lost their lives in the struggle for Azerbaijan’s independence and territorial integrity, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Following the ceremony, the Georgian leader took in a panoramic view of the capital from one of its highest vantage points.
He was briefed on the historical significance of the Alley of Martyrs and informed about ongoing urban development and beautification projects across the city.
Later, President Kavelashvili visited the Alley of Honour, where he paid tribute to Azerbaijan’s national leader, Heydar Aliyev, by laying a wreath at his grave. He also honoured the memory of esteemed ophthalmologist and academician Zarifa Aliyeva, placing flowers at her final resting place.
