Azerbaijan, Mozambique expand parliamentary dialogue on OIC sidelines
Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Speaker of Mozambique’s Assembly of the Republic Margarida Talapa on the sidelines of the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States in Baku, to strengthen interparliamentary ties.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of the 20th OIC Parliamentary Union session and the key role of the Parliamentary Union in strengthening relations between Muslim countries and their legislative bodies, AZERTAC reports.
Speaker Sahiba Gafarova stressed the importance of cooperation and mutual support between the two countries and parliaments within international organizations. She also provided information on the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network (NAM PN).
During the conversation, the sides reviewed inter-parliamentary cooperation, including contacts and reciprocal visits between lawmakers of both countries.
Margarida Talapa expressed gratitude for the hospitality and shared her impressions of Azerbaijan and the capital, Baku. She highlighted the importance of the Parliamentary Union conference and praised Azerbaijan’s efforts in organizing the event.
She also underlined the importance of expanding relations with Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis and expressed confidence that inter-parliamentary ties would contribute to strengthening broader bilateral relations between the two countries.
