Azerbaijan nears finalization of host country agreement for COP29

The final text of the Host Country Agreement between the Government of Azerbaijan and the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is expected to be ready soon.

Head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev told the fifth meeting of the COP29 Organising Committee, Caliber.Az reports per local media.

Nuriyev stated that the agreement is being prepared with input from relevant state bodies. He highlighted that following the Bonn Climate Conference, Azerbaijan has entered an active phase of its presidency at COP29.

He also mentioned that an initial list of 14 initiatives has been prepared based on proposals from state bodies and discussions with the UN and international organizations. Additionally, thematic days for COP29 have been allocated in agreement with the UN.
