Azerbaijan offers to discuss river pollution by Armenia at COP29
Azerbaijan has offered to discuss river pollution by Armenia within COP29.
Azerbaijani MP Asim Mollazade called for drawing attention to the problem of river pollution by Armenia during the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention (COP29), to be held in Azerbaijan this year, Report informs.
The MP made these remarks at a meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee for Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology on January 17.
He noted that there is a problem with water resources in Azerbaijan.
“Modern agricultural technologies are successfully used in deserts. Azerbaijan should consider the possibility of switching to them. We should think in which direction to develop. We are losing water resources due to the use of outdated technologies. We should draw the attention of relevant international organisations to this issue,” the MP added.
Moreover, a round table dedicated to the ecological condition of the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions will be held.
This issue has been included in the work plan of the Committee for Natural Resources, Energy and Ecology during the spring session.
The hearings on air emission control, participation in joint monitoring of biological resources in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, and joint discussions related to the current state and restoration of Lake Hajigabul are planned to be held within the COP29 in Baku.
